Le nouvel album de Socalled, The Season, est l’enregistrement du casting original de la comédie musicale The Season, composée par Josh « Socalled » Dolgin. Le spectacle, dont l’unique présentation était lors de POP Montréal à l’automne 2011, est un conte musical indie multi-genres du 21ème siècle peuplé de marionnettes. Pendant un soir seulement, la production originale mettait en vedette plusieurs des meilleurs danseurs, musiciens, chanteurs, acteurs et artistes de Montréal, dont Katie Moore, Yves Lambert, the Narcysist, Joe Cobden et Ly Richy. L’histoire est celle d’une communauté tissée serrée d’animaux de la forêt qui se préparent pour l’hiver et la prochaine saison de chasse alors qu’ils sont confrontés à une nouvelle menace : une invasion d’extra-terrestres. Un amour interdit se développe entre Bear, un ours, et Tina, une créature bienveillante et fougueuse en peluche rouge qui vient d’une autre planète. Leur amour survivra-t-il? Écoutez l’album qui comporte toutes les voix originales ainsi que l’harpiste Jennifer Swartz de l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, le quatuor à cordes The Warhol Dervish, le batteur Jamie Thompson et le bassiste Patrice Agbokou. L’ouverture a été orchestrée par l’original Wesley Fred JB et l’album a été enregistré par Mark Lawson, lauréat d’un prix Grammy au studio Petite Église d’Arcade Fire à Farnham, Québec. La pochette de l’album a été peinte à la main par Socalled même, alors préparez-vous à une expérience Socalled-musical pas comme les autres !

Socalled’s new album The Season is the original cast recording of the musical “The Season” composed by Josh “Socalled” Dolgin. The performance which happened one time at POP Montreal in the fall of 2011 was a puppet-heavy indie musical fable for the 21st century, featuring some of Montreal’s finest dancers, musicians, singers, actors and artists including Katie Moore, Yves Lambert, the Narcysist, Joe Cobden & Richy Ly, in an original, genre-bustin’, one-night-only production. The story is about a close-knit crew of forest animals as they prepare for winter and the oncoming hunting season and are faced with a new threat: an infestation of aliens from another planet. A forbidden love develops between Bear, a bear, and Tina, a feisty, fiery, helpful little red furry thing from beyond the stars. Will their love survive? Listen to the album which features all the original voices along with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra’s harpist Jennifer Swartz, the string quartet The Warhol Dervish, drummer Jamie Thompson and bassist Patrice Agbokou. The overture was orchestrated by original JB Fred Wesley and the album was recorded by Grammy award winner Mark Lawson at Arcade Fire’s Petite Église studio in Farnham, Quebec. The album artwork was hand painted by Socalled himself, so prepare yourself for a Socalledmusical experience like no other!
